Young Han Solo' release date and news: 'Community' star Donald Glover opens up about playing Lando Calrissian

As of now, Donald Glover is working on "Atlanta," a show that he helped create; what's amazing is that he also stars in, writes for, and directs the show. News just recently landed that he was cast as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming "Young Han Solo" movie, and Glover opened up about getting the role.

In an interview with Ellen Degeneres, Glover talked about his parent's reactions when he got cast as Lando. He said, "I told my dad immediately. My mom was in the back, she was like, 'Don't mess it up.' She was like, 'Don't mess this up!' Cause Billy Dee [Williams] is like — that's hers."

Glover also said that he was a fan of "Star Wars" growing up and that his first toy was that of Lando.

Lando Calrissian in the "Star Wars" fandom is jokingly referred to as "the only black guy in the galaxy." With most of the main cast being white Caucasians, Billy Dee Williams was the first African-American actor to play a main character in the movies, giving Glover very big shoes to fill.

In other news, "Young Han Solo" cinematographer Bradford Young commented on the direction of Phil Lord and Chris Miller. In an interview with Collider, he said, ""Don't put those guys in a box because they have a vision, they know exactly what they want. They have no hidden agenda, but they do have an agenda; they have a way of seeing that's very special, and their collaboration is genuinely unique."

Lord and Miller have been directing a lot of successful films recently, with the "22 Jumpstreet" reboots, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," and "The Lego Movie." Interestingly enough, "The Lego Movie" had a surprise appearance from Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon as well.

Sure enough, fans are as excited as ever to see what the director duo has in store for the upcoming "Star Wars" film.

The untitled "Young Han Solo" movie is slated for release on May 25, 2018.
