Xiaomi Mi 6 news, rumors: device breaks records in AnTuTu benchmark; price to be higher than usual?
The Xiaomi Mi 6 will be a beast of a smartphone if the latest information about the China-based tech company's highly anticipated offering is anything to go by.
The device churned out a performance that ended up being much superior to that of the iPhone 7 in an AnTuTu benchmark. The information comes in the form of a screenshot provided by a Weibo user who knew someone in possession of the handset.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 generated a whopping 210,329 points, which is the highest score any device clocked in an AnTuTu benchmark. It bested that of the iPhone 7, which scored 183,106.
The Xiaomi Mi 6's show of insane power is primarily attributed to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the latest and most powerful mobile chipset from the San Diego-based equipment company.
It was debuted at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2017 and is the first to be built on the advanced 10-nanometer design for "support phenomenal mobile performance."
"It is 35% smaller and uses 25% less power than previous designs, and is engineered to deliver exceptionally long battery life, lifelike VR and AR experiences, cutting-edge camera capabilities and Gigabit Class download speeds," the description for it reads.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is deemed the first smartphone to come out of China with the said processor. With this impressive result, the device is made more promising and should have more users excited about its reveal.
As GSM Arena pointed out, benchmark scores are not everything, but this one proved that the chipset under the hood of the Xiaomi Mi 6 will provide a major jump for the device.
In line with the use of the mega-powerful processor, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to be more expensive than one would expect for a Xiaomi flagship, as per Android Headlines.
The price will reportedly be at 2,499 Yuan ($370) instead of 1,999 Yuan — the pricing the premium devices of the company usually come in.
