Xbox Project Scorpio release date, specs, price rumors: Upcoming console promises more immersive, True 4K gaming

Xbox Project Scorpio will be due out in Holiday 2017, but speculations about its capabilities have continued on ever since it was first announced at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) alongside the Xbox One S. With six Teraflops of power, a 320-GB memory bandwidth, and eight central processing unit (CPU) cores, Microsoft's next gaming console promises to be the most efficient and powerful choice for True 4K gaming.

Xbox Project Scorpio aims for a more immersive gameplay with its high-end functionalities and its rumored virtual reality (VR) readiness. The upcoming console may be equipped with HoloLens, Microsoft's previous project with VR, thereby enabling it to access virtual reality PC games.

Game developers are being wowed by the promised specs of the upcoming console, which could bring their artistic visions at the highest rate resolution with the fastest frame rate and in more vibrant colors to make gaming look and feel more real than ever before.

Dubbed as Xbox 2, Xbox Project Scorpio is also expected to be compatible with Xbox One games, although there are speculations that this may not apply to all titles. As to its price tag, Games Industry reported that Microsoft may be aiming to battle it out with other upcoming gaming systems at an estimated price of $399, which may well be the lowest, most reasonable price a high-end gaming system like the Xbox Project Scorpio can sell for.

Xbox Boss Phil Spencer also told AusGamers that they will be aiming for a "console price point" with Xbox Project Scorpio, and are not interested at all in competing with other high-end consoles in terms of raw power. They aimed to design a platform with more balanced specs than focusing on just one game-enhancing component of the device, and did so with a goal to come up with "a balanced rig that could come together at a price-point."

Xbox Project Scorpio will hit the stores next year around the holidays, but Microsoft has yet to announce a specific release date for its upcoming high-end console.
