Xbox Live Games with Gold October 2016 free games list predictions: 'I Am Alive,' 'The Escapists' included in lineup
Microsoft recently announced its list of games that will be free for all Xbox Live Gold members this October via the company's Games with Gold program.
As usual, there are four free games — two for the Xbox One and two for the Xbox 360. According to an announcement on Xbox Wire, for October, Live Gold members using the Xbox One can download "Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings" beginning Oct. 1 until Oct. 31. The arcade baseball simulator retails for $19.99 and was Polygon's Sports Game of the Year in 2014.
Xbox Live Gold subscribers can also download "The Escapists" for free next month. It will be available from Oct. 16 through Nov. 15. The strategy role-playing video game from Mouldy Toof Studios was released in 2015 for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The game typically sells for $19.99.
Meanwhile, for the Xbox 360, Xbox Live members with Gold subscriptions can download for free "MX vs. ATV Reflex," which normally retails for $29.99, from Oct. 1 to Oct. 15. The off-road racing video game from Rainbow Studios debuted in 2009 and has been generally well-received. It is the third installment in the "MX vs. ATV" franchise.
Between Oct. 16 and Oct. 31, Xbox Live Gold members using the Xbox 360 can also get "I Am Alive," the survival video game from Ubisoft Shanghai, free of charge. It typically sells for $14.99. "I Am Alive" came out for the Xbox 360 in 2012.
Both "MX vs. ATV Reflex" and "I Am Alive" can also be played on the Xbox One through the console's backward-compatibility feature.
The Games with Gold program was launched in 2013. Through it, Xbox Live Gold subscribers get free games every month, as well as exclusive discounts and multiplayer capabilities.
Two games from the Xbox Live Games with Gold lineup for September can still be downloaded for free until the end of the month. These are "Earthlock: Festival of Magic" for the Xbox One and "Mirror's Edge" for the Xbox 360. "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China" will be available as a free download for Xbox One until Oct. 15.
