In a not so startling development last Sunday, Oct. 25, Madison Bumgarner of the San Francisco Giants was recognized as one of the World Series' greatest pitchers.

What happened did not really come as a surprise after Bumgarner's heroic performance last Sunday night when his presence clearly towered on the ball field, much to the dismay of the Kansas City Royals.

In fact, the Royals' third baseman Mike Moustakas went on record to say, "That's a tough guy to beat," in reference to the way Bumgarner disposed of the Kansas City batters with ease, which resulted in a shutout.

To be fair about it, Bumgarner may not be the world's best pitcher, ever, but he surely deserves the admiration of baseball aficionados because of the obviously tremendous power and skill he displayed against the Royals.

Bumgarner struck out eight and walked none, for a marvellous 5-0 Giants victory in Game 5 last Sunday. Bumgarner was also hugely responsible for his team's 7-1 victory in Game 1 of the World Series.

Now that the Giants have a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven championship, fans are wondering if Bumgarner will again lead his team in Tuesday night's Game 6. Or will the Giants allow Tim Hudson, their scheduled starter, to have his own moment of glory?

That seems to be a sticky question that is not easy to handle. Although Bumgarner is a team player who respects the decisions of manager Bruce Bouchy, he is still aware that in case something does happen, there may be a need for his pitching powers again. Fortunately, he is more than willing to literally pitch a good arm for the Giants, as long as he can, and as needed.
