Bestselling author of "A Song of Ice and Fire" is reportedly not making much progress at all with the highly anticipated "Winds of Winter" book at the moment. There has been no official release date announced, and it seems that it will be long before we ever hear him talk about an upcoming release.

In an interview with Digital Spy at a reader's event, Martin denied that the TV series he is working on is causing the delay of the book.

"The TV show has nothing to do with my progress or lack of it. It's its own thing," he said.

"I don't know, I have days where I make lots of progress, I have days where I make next to no progress, I have days where I think I'm going backwards because I don't like what I wrote yesterday."

"So I've given up making any predictions on that. I'm just writing it and when it's done, it'll be done", he added.

He, however, admitted that because of time issues, he has decided not to write any more scripts of the series Game of Thrones. He added that he will still be working as a co-executive producer for the program, so he is still "involved on that level".

Talking about the work he has for the series, he commented, "It takes me about three weeks to a month to write a script, and with all the pressure to finish and deliver The Winds of Winter, I decided my time was better spent finishing the book than taking off three weeks to a month to get a script done."

Fans are surely thrilled about the book getting done and published, but with how things are going, it seems like we need to wait a little longer.
