'Winds of Winter' book release date, plot news: George R.R. Martin to launch book soon
The man behind HBO's internationally acclaimed TV series "Game of Thrones" might be launching another novel from his "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. Recent reports say that George R.R. Martin will be launching the sixth installment of the series, titled "The Winds of Winter," in 2017.
Although recent reports say that Martin will be publishing his book next year, rumor has it the author still has a few hundred pages left to complete the book.
On the other hand, there have also been reports suggesting that Martin has already finished writing his book, but is still undergoing proofreading.
Fans have been speculating that the author is currently tackling multiple projects; hence, the delay in book 6. Aside from "The Winds of Winter," Martin is reportedly working on its sequel. Furthermore, a number of fans believe that the sixth installment of the series could be launched together with the seventh title, "A Dream of Spring.
The Independent previously reported that the rumors of a 2017 release date started when Amazon France indicated that the upcoming book's launch will be on March 9, 2017. Although the page has been taken down, many have already noticed their announcement.
On the other hand, Martin's publishers, Random House and Voyager/Harper Collins Books, have denied that a release date has been scheduled. According to the publishers, an official announcement will be made once a date has been set.
The last book in the series, titled "A Dance With Dragons," was released in 2011.
