'Wayward Pines' season 2 spoilers, plot news: Abbies' attack continues as season reaches penultimate episode

Last Wednesday's episode of "Wayward Pines" season 2 showed Theo teaming up with Hassler to track down the escaped Abbie leader and prevent her from sounding off an alarm to other Abbies lurking behind the walls of the town. In the upcoming episode, fans will see the citizens of the town bracing for the Abbies' onslaught.

Episode 8 titled "Pass Judgment" saw Theo (Jason Patric) having a heated discussion with Kerry (Kacey Rohl) regarding Jason's (Tom Stevens) brash decision to shoot the Abbies in the lab. It appears that the female leader of the Abbies, Margaret (Rochelle Okoye), was ready to give Theo her trust, but Jason's actions thwarted everything.

The same episode had Theo discovering that Megan (Hope Davis) has been murdered by Margaret before she managed to escape the facilities. This prompted Theo and Hassler to band together in search of the escaped Abbie leader, who seems to have pulled a fast one over them.

Now, spoilers for the penultimate episode seem to hint that the Abbies would be attacking the idyllic town of Wayward Pines, and things would intensify for everyone, including the viewers. The episode is touted to make things even more thrilling and interesting leading to the season finale airing on July 27.

Episode 9 titled "Walcott Prep" will see Jason making an important decision, and it looks like whatever he decides on could lead to another Wayward Pines fatality. Meanwhile, Xander Beck (Josh Helman) and Theo would have to settle for putting their differences aside if they want to keep the citizens of the town safe from an imminent Abbie attack.

Obviously, the Abbies will continue their attack, and while the residents of the town are worried if they can survive the Abbies' onslaught, they are not backing down from the threat. Here is Carter Matt's synopsis for Wednesday's episode:

"Pilcher recalls finding his Chosen One. Then, as the Abbies close in, Jason makes a fatal judgment call and Theo and Xander must put aside their differences to stop him before the human race is lost."

The synopsis doesn't give much away, which could indicate that they are cooking up something explosive for the season ender.
