'Watch Dogs 2' release date, news, update 2016: Ubisoft says 'Watch Dogs 2' will make up for lack of 'Assassin's Creed' games
Ubisoft has been behind a lot of big franchises like "Assassin's Creed" and "Watch Dogs," with the former even getting its own movie adaptation this December. There will reportedly be no "Assassin's Creed" game next year, but Ubisoft is thinking that the release of "Watch Dogs 2" will be able to pacify fans over the lack of assassins in 2017.
In an interview with MCV, Ubisoft's U.K. sales director Darren Bowen says that the "Watch Dogs" sequel will be up to the task of replacing the empty slot that has been left by "Assassin's Creed." He says, ""Assassin's Creed has been a fantastic seller for Ubisoft and really important to the market every year, but make no mistake, 'Watch Dogs 2' will certainly fill the gap this year,"
"Assassin's Creed" fans won't be completely disappointed, however, as the developers are said to be releasing "The Ezio Collection" which put updated visuals on classic games that feature assassin Ezio Auditore. The franchise was launched back in 2007, so fans can expect the visuals to be amped up to compete with the standard of the games that came out in 2016.
Apart from "Watch Dogs 2," Ubisoft will also be releasing a new game this December called "Steep." It looks to be a sports game based on skiing, so fans have more to look forward to this Christmas.
"Watch Dogs" is a franchise that focuses on hackers who spend time in the game by hacking different devices and sneaking up on people with remote-controlled drones. The sequel to the game is said to feature a new protagonist and other hacking improvements as well.
The highly anticipated video game "Watch Dogs 2" is expected to come out for consoles on Nov. 15, and for the PC on Nov. 29.
