'Warcraft' Movie Plot Spoilers: Storyline to Revolve Around Orcs And Humans Conflict
Blizzard Entertainment, the creator of "Warcraft," one of the most popular videogames in the world, has announced that the upcoming 2016 movie based on the game will revolve around the conflict between the Orc Horde and the Human Alliance.
Duncan Jones, who was appointed to create the movie adaptation of the popular computer game "World of Warcraft," said he believes that the film should not be about a race of humans fighting with the orcs, but rather about "heroes on both sides trying to avoid a conflict, when villains leave them no choice."
He revealed that when he was talking to Blizzard, the plan was to begin the plot with humans battling with the orcs. He explained, "I think that for a world with so much newness to explain, this was a wise choice, especially when so many people in our audience may not know anything about Warcraft... it was important that some of our characters would be seeing the world fresh as well, and that the audience could see the situation through their eyes."
He added, "I know that my job in this first film is to establish certain characters, places and culture while telling a story that a broad audience can be excited by."
The production team is aiming for a multiple film franchise, with the first one scheduled for release on March 11, 2016. Jones has said that he already has sequels in mind.
Duncan added, "Hopefully, if I have done my job right, people will want to know and see more! There is certainly plenty more to tell! [...] I would love to be part of that process of expanding on the lore that makes up Warcraft, but it will all depend on what you, the audience, think of our first film."
