'Veep' season 6 spoilers: Gary sticking with Selina; Fun things for Jonah's new staff

"Veep" season 6 will be an interesting one not only for Selina Meyer, who has been "ousted" from the White House but also for the people around her.

The transition from being a former vice president and interim president to being an ordinary civilian sans the privileges given to those formerly in office will be hard for Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) to take. Dubbed as the most "ineffective" president of the United States, her ouster from the White House will be a tough pill to swallow, and according to showrunner David Mandel, "Veep" season 6 will see Selina having a meltdown because of everything that transpired in the season 5 finale.

Mandel recently spoke to Bustle, and he said Selina will have a difficult time adjusting to civilian life. It might take some time for her to accept the fact that she's now living a life outside of politics and back to being an ordinary citizen with not even a Secret Service agent to shadow her. Apparently, Selina wasn't in office too long to merit such privilege, thereby rocking her to her core. Was she even relevant as a public servant?

Meanwhile, speaking to The Daily Caller, series director Dale Stern said the upcoming season will have fans enjoying the dynamics between White House Liaison to the Vice President Jonah Ryan (Timothy Simons) and his new staff. However, he didn't care to elaborate on this "fun time" he referred to.

While keeping mum on other details of season 6, Stern did confirm that Selina will have a fresh start.

"I don't know what's planned for next season," Stern said, adding, "You know, it's framed with certain ideas. It's a whole new world and a whole new beginning for the show. It's outrageous. It's hysterical. It's going to be very fun to work and play with it."

In related news, Tony Hale, who plays Selina's sycophantic personal aide Gary Walsh, confirmed to The Wrap that he will still be working for Selina even if the latter is no longer in the White House. The actor said so long as Gary is working with the ex-veep, he will be happy. Nevertheless, will Selina's meltdown have a domino effect on Gary? That remains to be seen in the upcoming installment.

"Veep" season 6 will air in spring 2017 on HBO, though a premiere date has yet to be set.
