Series star Julia Louis-Dreyfus has recently confirmed the release date of the upcoming sixth season of HBO's political satire comedy TV series, "Veep."

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, Louis-Dreyfus posted a short video on Twitter, announcing that the sixth season of "Veep" will premiere on Sunday, April 16, at 10:30 p.m. ET. The short video features the actress dancing with a sign inside what appears to be the set for the show's Oval Office.

"Extra! Extra! Read all about! New season of veep!" Dreyfus captioned her Twiiter post.

As reported by Den of Geek, "Veep" season 6 will run 10 episodes and will be following the life of former Vice President Selina Meyer after her Presidential stint in the Oval Office. Selina was never actually voted into office as president; she only got the job because of a presidential scandal that had left her in charge.

In season 5, Selina and her team waged a valiant and messy battle for the presidency. The Electoral College vote, however, resulted in a tie, and the Senate had to step in to break the tie. In the end, Selina's efforts were all for naught when the Senate ended up electing Sen. Laura Montez (Andrea Savage). The season concluded with Selina sitting in the rain with the remainder of her staff as they listen to the parade of the newly-elected president.

With multiple Emmy Award winner Louis-Dreyfus in the lead, "Veep" also stars Emmy winner Tony Hale, Emmy nominee Anna Chlumski, Reid Scott, Matt Walsh, Timothy C. Simons, Sufe Bradshaw, and Kevin Dunn.

The show has won two best comedy Emmys since it aired. In September, Louis-Dreyfus won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for the fifth year in a row. More recently, the TV show took home the trophy for best directing in the comedy series category at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards 2017.

As previously stated, "Veep" season 6 is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, April 16, at 10:30 p.m. ET on HBO.
