Vampire Diaries Season 7 Spoilers: New Premiere Tonight, Tension Between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder?
Rumor has it that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are to leave the show once The Vampire Diaries Season 6 ends.
According to Gack Hollywood, the actor has "grown tired of the show and its drama". Nina, on the other hand, is reported by some sources as wanting to move on as well, and she is being touted as moving over to appear in a special role on a crossover episode of "The Originals". Many fans are hoping that she finds a new "home" in the show, which is a spin-off of "The Vampire Diaries".
Although stories about the tension between the two actors affecting the show has been circulating, it has also been reported that Season 6 could be the end for the much-loved Vampire Diaries, and that the tension between the two has nothing to do with it.
The apparent decline in ratings is seen to be the main reason why the show is coming to an end. We remember it airing for the first time five years ago, with an average of 4.5 million viewers. However, as seasons went by, there was a significant decrease in ratings, with many episodes managing to pull only 1.4 million viewers.
In an interview, Somerhalder said, "It very well could be our last [season]. I think now that there's a finality to it, everyone's really realizing that this is a very important time in our lives. We created some very cool storytelling."
The Vampire Diaries Season 6 premieres today, October 2, on The CW.
