'Vampire Diaries' final season news: Ian Somerhalder doesn't want 'Delena' to end up together
The final season of "The Vampire Diaries" might feature the late Elena, who was portrayed by Nina Dobrev. Though her return hasn't been confirmed, many are convinced that the actress will appear in the final season of the show so she could end up with Damon.
Ian Somerhalder, who portrays Elena's former lover, isn't quite thrilled about the idea of Elena ending up with his character Damon.
In an interview with TVLine, Somerhalder told the news outlet his reason. He said, "This poor young girl from this tiny town lost everything."
Elena lost all of the things that were important in her life and the brothers are to blame for it. The actor added, "These guys ruined her life, yet everybody wants her to end up with one of them."
Neither the network nor the production team has yet to reveal if Dobrev is going to appear in the final season of the show. The last update about Dobrev's return was when CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed that discussions with Dobrev regarding the final season were in the works. Pedowitz made the statement at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
In season 8, fans of "The Vampire Diaries" will see Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) go downhill. Both characters will be consumed by evil and it will take all of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Stefan's (Paul Wesley) wits to bring them to their senses. Though Bonnie will be starting to lose hope, she will help the younger Salvatore brother in subduing Damon and his antics.
Recent spoilers reveal that someone from Stefan's past will become a target in the last season. When an unexpected visitor drops by, Caroline (Candice King) will realize that her family might be in danger.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is expected to launch this Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
