Under the Dome Season 3 Release Date: Renewed or Canceled? Renewal of Hit Show Likely

After the success of season one, Under the Dome was renewed by CBS for another season. However, for the anticipated third season, there has been no official word from CBS at this stage, although many fans believe the popular show will for sure see another season.

In 2013, the show ended up with an average of 2.7 in ratings in the 18-49 demographic, which leads us to a total of 11.21 million viewers.

However, ratings were not as good in the second season and we saw a big decline when it dropped to a 1.6 rating, which means 36% viewership and 7.14 million viewers. To make up for the loss, it was lucky for the show to still be CBS' highest rated series during the summer.

Despite the drop in ratings, Les Moonves, CEO and President of CBS, noted that it is still generating a lot of profit, with an estimated $2.5 million per episode.

The positivity sounds like Under the Dome will be returning for another season. However, there are no official announcements yet.

Under the dome is a sci-fi drama series that revolves around the residents of Chester's Mill who were cut off from the world by a large transparent dome. People inside the dome need to work their way to survive with the limited resources they have, as well as the rising tension as a result of the need for survival.

The series is based on a novel written by well-renowned author Stephen King. It first aired on CBS last June 30, 2014 and was renewed for a 13-episode second season. Whether Season 3 will be renewed or cancelled, we have yet find out.
