The Survival update for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is now available, bringing in a number of new modes, multiplayer maps, and bug fixes.

According to reports, the 3.8 GB update released by Naughty Dog features five additional weapons, two new maps, many new items for regular multiplayer, along with the new co-op Survival mode. During gameplay, Saviors no longer remain idle while a Hunter chokes their owner. The Radar image for Village and a sound issue has now been fixed by the patch. Prison and Trainwreck are the two new maps, while the King of the Hill mode is now accessible. Also, 10 more levels are playable, along with new weapons and skins.

In a nutshell, Survival challenges enable players to progress through 50 waves of enemies. The waves are broken up into 10 levels, each with five waves players must survive. Each stage reportedly takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to be finished. It's also worth noting that Survival isn't solely about killing enemies as there are various kinds of objectives players can choose from. This includes Survival (kill everyone), Siege (kill enemies from a certain location), Treasure Race (collect treasure spread across the map), Marked Man (kill a particular target), and Boss Waves (kill pirate ghosts). For more details, full patch notes are available on the game's official website. The trailer for Survival has also been released.

On other related news, Sony is releasing a $160 Platinum wireless headset slated to arrive on Jan.12. The state of the art device has a 7.1 virtual surround sound thanks to Sony's 3D audio technology. An upcoming patch for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" will add support for 3D audio next year, becoming the first video game to have it. In a promotional video for the premium headset, director Neil Druckmann revealed that with 3D audio, players can hear a character calling from below. Gunfire can also be heard from all around during shootouts, boosting the immersion of the scene in the game.
