'Thor: Ragnarok' release date, plot news: upcoming 'Thor' installment might pave way for 'Infinity War' plot
The upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" is probably one of the most important installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it is expected to build up the story for the "Avengers: Infinity War."
In the same manner, Cate Blanchett's character in "Thor: Ragnarok" is expected to play another key role in these series of plots. As everyone knows by now, Blanchett will take up the role of Hela once the next "Thor" movie hits the theaters. Hela is the goddess of death and it is theorized that she will be the embodiment of Death in "Avengers: Infinity War," as pointed out by Slash Film.
As explained on the Marvel website, "Death is an abstract entity embodying the concept of the mortality and extinction, inasmuch as its opposite, Eternity, embodies life. ... Death seems to be always seeking out new conquests and may manipulate mortals with or without their knowledge in order to gain them."
There are several indicators why it is highly possible that Hela will embody Death in the "Avengers: The Infinity War" and Hela's introduction to the MCU is one. Since the Mad Titan, Thanos, is expected to arrive in the next "Avengers" film, it would not be surprising for Hela to manipulate the villain through gaining deaths, which means utter catastrophe in "Avenger: Infinity War."
However, in an interview with Vulture, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige implied that Thanos might have other plans in the film other than killing his adversaries. Feige said, "Anything is possible. But knowledge of the comics can be both beneficial to fans anticipating things, and also misleading. So you'll have to see."
In the same interview, Feige refused to give a hint whether or not Hela will be in "Avengers: Infinity War." However, he could not contain to comment how amazing Blanchett was filming as Hela. The Marvel chief said, "I would be psyched if I were you. Put it this way: Her part is wrapped, and we haven't done any effects yet. Even without any effects at all — I'm talking dots on her costume, and green screen — it's amazing.
"Thor: Ragnarok" opens in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
