'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers: second half of season will have a different vibe
So far, "The Walking Dead" season 7 has been all doom and gloom for the Alexandrians. When the season started with Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) getting their heads bashed, everything went downhill from there. The gang gets into trouble repeatedly with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and there was a feeling of hopelessness, especially when Rick (Andrew Lincoln) started acting like a dog with his tail between his legs.
Things may seem bleak, but it may get a little better when the second half of the season airs. In an interview with ComicBook.com, "The Walking Dead" showrunner Scott Gimple revealed that the second half of the season would have a different vibe from the first part.
"I will say 7B's vibe is very different from 7A's vibe. The ending of 7B is very different than the beginning of 7A. Just the vibe in 7B, I was just talking about it with Andy [Lincoln] last night. It's just a very, very different half season than the half season that preceded it. Even with structure, what we're doing right now with the episodes and seeing where everyone is at, the structure is very, very different than the back half. There's a lot more variety to the structure," he stated.
Gimple also talked about how episodes 6, 7, 8 would help set up the beginning of the second half of the season. Well, the first half of the season didn't exactly end on a high note either. Spencer (Austin Nichols) thought it was a good idea to scheme against Rick while their fearless leader was out gathering supplies with Aaron (Ross Marquand).
Negan wasn't exactly pleased with how Spencer was doing things, so he decided to check if Spencer has any guts. Well, let's just say he wasn't gutless at all when Negan sliced him open. Olivia (Ann Mahoney) also gets randomly shot in the face by Arat (Elizabeth Ludlow) when Negan decided to punish the Alexandrians after Rosita (Christian Serratos) tried to shoot him. And Eugene (Josh McDermitt) gets abducted by the Saviors after he admitted that he made the bullet.
Things may seem hopeless so far this season, but things are about to change. The second half of season 7 will premiere on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
