'The Walking Dead' season 7 plot spoilers: New details on Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan, how he and Rick will co-exist
One of the things fans are excited about in "The Walking Dead" season 7, aside from the identity of the person who gets Lucilled, is the idea of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) coming to life in the small screen.
In an interview with Variety, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd described the impact of the infamous villain on the show and on the group.
"In this new season Negan is the game changer, and whatever we did someone was going to be unhappy," Hurd revealed, referring to the cliffhanger that will be revealed in "The Walking Dead" season 7.
"So we promised we will be picking up where that left off; we are not going to draw it out," she continued. With that said, fans won't have to wait to know who gets the beating.
It will be exciting to see if the Negan on the show will be based on the letter from its comic book counterpart. If it will be, at some point in "The Walking Dead" season 7, fans can expect Negan and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) to actually co-exist.
Spoiler Alert! The following contains potential spoilers for the next season of "The Walking Dead." Proceed if you want to know before the show returns.
In the comics where the show is based, Negan actually at some point takes Carl, who is played by Chandler Riggs in the television show, under his wing.
If the series goes that route, which fans expect it would, it is likely that Carl will get out alive in "The Walking Dead" season 7 premiere.
Meanwhile, cast member Melissa McBride, who plays Carol in the series, teased what to expect in the new season whole speaking to Entertainment Weekly.
"I hope those people that feel jilted will tune in because the premiere is just going to be... oh God, it's going to rock the walls," the actress said.
"The wait is worth it. Whether you're angry with it or whether you liked the cliffhanger or whether you're pissed off about it, the wait is worth it," she continued.
"The Walking Dead" season 7 will premiere Sunday, Oct. 23 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
