'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Spoilers, Plot Rumors: Surprise Awaits Fans at Season's Finale, Norman Reedus Reveals
Fans of the hit zombie apocalypse series "The Walking Dead" will get a huge surprise at the season finale as revealed by Norman Reedus, who plays everyone's favorite crossbow-wielding character Daryl Nixon.
Reedus said fans have to watch closely each and every character in Alexandria, which is seen as a safe haven in both the comics and television versions.
"The whole back half of our season is so good," Reedus told ETonline.com. "There's something that's going to happen -- and I can't tell you what it is -- but somebody turns out to be not who you think they are, and it's an interesting turn of events."
Before Season 5 of the AMC series premiered, Reddus had promised ETonine that the season would be a "crazy" and "emotional" rollercoaster ride.
Even if Alexandria's serene community lies in stark contrast to the cannibalistic community of Terminus, fans can expect some unpleasant things to happen to the show's characters.
"You take a bunch of wild animals and you put 'em in a cage – no matter what it looks like – it's very uncomfortable," Reedus was quoted as saying by ETonline on the upcoming conflicts in Alexandria.
Reedus' character himself is not that comfortable in the community even as Rick (Andrew Lincoln) has come out clean-shaven last week.
"I mean I think some of our group is really looking forward to being there, and some our group is not really into it," said Reedus. "I don't know if Daryl would've hung out in that town before the zombie apocalypse."
Reedus revealed that the opossum-skinning scene was a metaphor to Daryl's emotional state.
"You know there was a scene in last Sunday's episode where everyone is getting cleaned up and stuff and Daryl kills that opossum and he takes the guts and he just throws it on their nice porch?" Reedus said. "That's kind of where his head is at right now."
When asked if Daryl will undergo a similar make-over in the next episode, the actor said: "I don't know, come on get off my back," Reedus said, laughing. "Cut your hair, take a shower. You know, I'm kind of in wild animal mode right now. I'm a dude, I like being filthy and covered in guts and blood."
Meanwhile, Reedus said that if his character, which was created exclusively for the television series, was gay, he would welcome it. "If that's the story they gave me, I would rock that story. I'm not afraid of it," Reedus said in a "Conan" interview on Tuesday by the Boston Herald.
"Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman has kept details about Daryl's sexuality under wraps in a previous interview by Comicbook.com but said the storyline has already been talked about.
"We have very specific ideas about Daryl's sexuality, and if there's ever a quiet period in the show where he's not consistently distracted by crossbowing... we'll tackle it in the show," he said.
The series recently introduced its first two gay characters, Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Eric (Jordan Woods-Robinson), after introducing lesbian character Tara (Alanna Masterson) last season, the newspaper wrote.
"The Walking Dead" airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. on AMC.
