AMC is promising plenty of somber moments as well as a lot of casualties both for the living and the undead in the finale of "The Walking Dead" Season 5 this Sunday, March 29.

Citing more than a few surprises before the show bows out for its summer break, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd promised one of the biggest episodes in the 90-minute Episode 16 this Sunday.

"We have a few surprises up our sleeve — I would throw that out there. But yes, we're seeing more of the division," Hurd said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

With a new documentary about Wilma Mankiller on Kickstarter, Hurd teased that the division will not only affect people inside Alexandria but with Rick Grimes' group itself.

"You can rest assured that not only walker blood will be spilled, but there will be a few surprises and some sad losses that no one, I think, will be able to predict," Hurd said.

Producer Nick Nicotero said the survivors' stay in Alexandria as well as their existence as a group community will be imperiled after leader Andrew Lincoln's Rick went on a bloody, gun-waving rant at the end of last week's episode.

"We've seen Rick go through a pretty dramatic transformation this season. Everybody has a lot to lose by Rick's behavior. So everybody either has to get behind what Rick's doing or stop him," Nicotero said, according to USA Today.

Nicotero, who produced the 90-minute finale this coming Sunday, noted the presence of another threat. "There are bad people out there, and they're pretty close," he warned.

"They seem to be very perverted, from what we've seen. It seems like people they've never come across before," actress Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Sasha Williams, said.

Nicotero said the eventful episode demanded an extra half-hour to wrap up storylines and propel "The Walking Dead" towards Season 6. There will be "some great moments" based from the graphic novel that will be seen in Sunday's episode.

"Being out on the road for 12 episodes has taken a toll on them. Glenn (Steven Yeun) is a lot harder than he used to be. Michonne (Danai Gurira) realizes if they lose this place, it could signify death to all of them," he said.

"Carol (Melissa McBride) doesn't want anyone to know she's an effective protector," he added, according to USA Today.
