'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 air date, spoilers news: Steroline celebrates reunion with passionate kiss

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will finally see Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice King) together again after spending most of the previous season broken up.

Caroline was revealed to be bearing Alaric's (Matt Davis) twins following his wife's murder and they were engaged in season 7. In the end, however, the former found the courage to end things between them while trying not to crush his heart.

But even before that, things were even more complicated for Stefan and Caroline with the former's old flame Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) entering the picture.

When a flash forward in the previous season revealed Caroline and Stefan were not together, Steroline fans were worried about the couple's fate. "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 puts off these worries.

In the trailer for the new season, "Steroline" were shown lip-locking suggesting that the two will be together again and possibly more intimate than ever. Alaric won't have to mope through it all, though.

Executive producer Julie Plec teased that "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 newcomer Seline to be played by Kristen Gutoskie will help him get through it.

Although Seline will primarily be brought into the picture as the nanny of Alaric's kids, Plec suggests that she will be more than that as the season progresses.

"Alaric hasn't had the best luck with women," Plec told TVLine. "I don't know if he should be jumping into anything anytime soon, but if he does, the hot nanny would certainly be viable," she teased.

With regards to Steroline, the photos from "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 premiere do not show the pair together. Caroline is seen with Alaric while Stefan was shown on his phone with what appears to be a police car behind him.

The photos focus on Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) as they go about their killing spree. This will probably explain why the cops are involved.

The duo appears to have chosen their prey, and Enzo is even seen biting into the neck of an unfortunate target in a small room filled with bodies of animals and maybe humans too.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
