Fans will be greeted with a new face when "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 returns to the small screen next year. This is thanks to the addition of actress Alexandra Chando.

"The Lying Game" alum will play the role of a young doctor named Tara, whose morals will be tested by Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) as part of their service to Cade (Wole Parks).

Chando was shown briefly in the promo for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 8, "We Have History Together," in which she appears to be attending to her unlikely patient — Damon.

Tara was shown injecting something to Damon's system, but it is unclear as to what it is. Damon can then be heard saying, "Give me a chance to redeem myself." The promo was cut to show he was speaking to Stefan.

As teased in the synopsis for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 8, all this could simply be for show. That or Stefan is not as obedient to Cade as the Devil would expect.

There is no word as to what Tara will play in the lives of Damon and Stefan. At the moment, however, Chando is currently lined up for a single episode only, which is "We Have History Together."

It is unclear if she will return. After all, many believe that she will, seeing that to some, the actress shares a resemblance with Nina Dobrev, who played Elena Gilbert in the series.

She also happens to be a doctor, which is Elena's dream. Whether that will play out in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 or not remains to be seen.

With Damon's "Give me a chance to redeem myself" line in the episode, could he be seeing Elena in Tara? It will certainly be interesting to see.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 8, "We Have History Together," airs Friday, Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
