'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Kai's Magic Comes With Timer; 'Delena' Romance Blooming

We all need to wait till next year to find out what happened to Elena (Nina Dobrev) who was kidnapped by Caroline's (Candice Accola) mom and Kai (Chris Wood) in last Thursday's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6.

Episode 11 of the hit CW series titled "Woke Up With a Monster" will air on Jan. 22, 8 p.m.

Episode 10, titled "Christmas Through Your Eyes," was truly an unforgettable one for fans as it ended with all sorts of cliffhangers: Kai getting a hold of Elena after Liz Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) was diagnosed with cancer, Matt reluctantly becoming Enzo's (Michael Malarkey) partner, and Bonnie (Kat Graham) burning her tree. Kai finally gained access to magic from the traveler spell, but it looked like he wouldn't be having those supernatural powers for too long.

Caroline Dries, executive producer for the show, said Kai's magic source comes with a timer. "He charges up like a battery, and then it runs out like a really cheap, junky battery. It's not a permanent solution for him, but the consequences of that will certainly be in effect in Episode 11 when we come back from our break," Dries told E! News.

As for the romance between Elena and Damon, it looks like fans will still have to wait until next year for the romance to ignite between them. Towards the end of the episode, Damon saw Elena in the front door under a mistletoe. Just as Damon was about to kiss her, Elena disappeared because of Kai's clocking spell cast on her.

As for Kai's reason for kidnapping Elena, the executive producer said "getting at Damon via Elena is the perfect revenge."

"Having sucked up all that magic from Mystic Falls has repercussions even for him. He needs Elena's help with that," Dries said.

To give "Delena" fans some hope, Dries said there is a future for the reel-life couple. "I can tease that we will finally see them come face-to-face soon and we'll continue to watch their relationship evolve. You just have to have patience."
