Vampire Diaries Season 6 Release Date, Spoilers: Will Premiere See Bonnie and Damon Return?

In the finale of Vampire Diaries Season 5, things got extremely out of hand and the crew had to ditch the town who was overrun of Markos and his entire group of Travelers, ridding the town of its ability for magic. The Travelers succeeded in sealing the entire Mystic Falls, forcing Elena, Damon, Stefan, Caroline and Tyler to escape.

While they had a somewhat, brilliant plan on how to overthrow and destroy Markos and the Travelers, it didn't work out the way they intended it to, causing the death of Damon and Elena, who got caught up in the explosion that hopefully rid Markos and his people away. Unfortunately, the magic seal was never broken at all. This left Stefan, Alaric, Enzo, Elena and Tyler. Bonnie and Damon vanishes in a very bright light and this is how the 5^{th season wrapped up.}

So what's going to happen in Season 6? According to the official synopsis of Vampire Diaries Season 6, the story will pick up, a couple of months later after the events in the season 5 finale.

"Everyone is dealing with the loss of their loved ones in different ways, some more destructively than others,"

A mysterious "community watch" program will be overlooking the small town of Mystic Falls, protecting it from the return of the supernatural beings who once plagued it. The crew will be trying to pick up the pieces and get back on track if they ever wanted to return to the place they belong and live their normal lives again.

At the end of the synopsis it says: "This season will explore themes of loss, denial and what it means to move on in the face of immortality, ultimately begging the age-old question -- can you ever really go home again?"

There's no official word on whether Bonnie and Damon will return, or their whereabouts.

Vampire Diaries Season 6 will premiere on The CW this October 8.
