'The Originals' season 4 spoilers, plot news: Will Marcel be unfortunate recipient of Klaus' wrath?

When "The Originals" season 4 returns on air, Klaus Mikaelson is expected to wake up from his coma while the rest of the Mikaelson siblings manage to find their way out of dreamscape. However, will all the pent-up emotions inside the badass hybrid finally let loose?

He may be the strongest of them all, but Klaus (Joseph Morgan) will sacrifice everything for his family, and that's what fans saw him doing in the third season of "The Originals." He made the ultimate sacrifice that merited him a Tunde Blade struck deep in his chest resulting in a pain-induced coma. Nevertheless, before all that, he lost the love of his life Cami (Leah Pipes) to a lethal vampire bite.

These events are leading fans of the show to assume that vengeance will be at the forefront of Klaus' battle cry for season 4 and that Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) will be the unfortunate vampire who will earn Klaus' wrath. Nevertheless, in an interview with TV Insider, Morgan said he doesn't think Klaus will be out for revenge when "The Originals" season 4 returns despite the drama between the character and Marcel.

"I don't think so, unless it's necessary for his survival," he said. "The bond with Marcel is one of the show's foundations. That's why it was so hurtful to Klaus when his brother Elijah (Daniel Gillies) tore out Marcel's heart."

While Klaus may not be out for blood, it doesn't mean he will be all chummy with his former sire. Executive producer Julie Plec dished on the season 4 dynamics between the two in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"The indignity of Klaus Mikaelson's situation the last five years [is being] held captive by his surrogate son and forced to be an advisor to a king that he does not recognize," she said. "Marcel is actually singularly responsible for the fact he's alive because so many people ... desperate to see him reduced to ash."

What will happen to Klaus and Marcel in season 4? Will they square off from the get-go or will they get back to being on the same page?

"The Originals" season 4 is set to premiere on The CW in 2017.
