'The Originals' season 4 air date and rumors: ABC to pick up the series?
Season three of "The Originals" left the Mikaelson family future in quite a bind. Although fans are assured that season four will be happening in early 2017, there has been news that the series is facing cancellation. Will it get picked up by another network?
Rumors have been going around that ABC might pick up the series, but so far, there has been no confirmation. It's an interesting decision for ABC to pick up the show since ABC and The CW are currently hosting shows that feature rival comic companies Marvel and DC.
ABC is the home of Marvel shows like "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the recently cancelled "Agent Carter." The CW airs DC-centered shows like "The Flash," "Arrow," and "Legends of Tomorrow." It would be quite interesting to see ABC pick up something dropped by The CW.
Of course, no official confirmation of the show's turnover has been reported, but fans are still hopeful that the show may find a future.
The show's ratings have been steadily declining, and reports suggest that this may be because of the show's decision to kill off Cami (Leah Pipes) and Davina (Danielle Campbell). Because of this, The CW is reportedly dropping the show and "The Originals" may just have to go and find itself another network.
Reports are also suggesting that season four may open with the timeline five years in the future. In the season 3 finale, the future of the Mikaelsons were placed in the hands of Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and baby Hope. When the show kicks in, Hope will be much older, and she will be able to stand on her own when it comes to these vampire family matters.
"The Originals" season 4 is said to air in January 2017 on The CW.
