'The Last Man on Earth' season 3 episode 6 spoilers: Carol wants to be adopted; Tandy and Lewis to bond?

It looks like the previous episode of FOX's post-apocalyptic comedy "The Last Man on Earth" was the calm before the storm as things begin to go sideways for everyone. Will their personal and group issues end up compromising their newfound comforts?

Titled "The Open-Ended Nature of Unwitnessed Deaths", next week's episode promises to raise more conflicts within the group as the show inches closer to its halfway mark. To start with, there's the matter of Melissa's (January Jones) mental health and her willingness to finally have a baby with her longtime partner Todd (Mel Rodriguez). Todd is reluctant and rightfully so. How will he be able to handle this situation without potentially pushing Melissa away?

On the other hand, Tandy (Will Forte) will attempt to make friends with newcomer Lewis (Kenneth Choi) after wrongfully accusing him of sabotaging their new home. He will take interest in Lewis' life story, and will adamantly follow the man around, much to Lewis' undisguised annoyance. Will they be able to forge something akin to friendship at the end of the day? Or will Tandy, being Tandy, end up on the topmost end of Lewis' disfavor?

The episode preview also shows a curious scene between Carol (Kristen Schaal) and Gail (Mary Steenburgen), wherein the former tries to get the latter to sign an adoption agreement stating Gail's intent to adopt Carol as her legal daughter. Based on an earlier scene where Carol showed Gail a drawing of herself holding her yet-to-be-born baby with a smiling Gail posing provocatively by her side, could Carol be asking Gail to be her baby's hot grandmother?

The preview also shows Tandy inviting Lewis on a trip to Seattle. What he hopes to do there is unclear, but it seems like it's going to lead to some unfavorable consequences.
