'The Defenders' spoilers: Finn Jones talks about Iron Fist's thoughts as he joins the superhero ensemble

Three out of the four superheroes in Marvel TV and Netflix's "The Defenders" have had their own standalone series detailing their origin story. This leaves Danny Rand also known as Iron Fist (Finn Jones) as the only one whose series is still in the can and yet to be formally introduced to audiences. Narrative-wise, iron Fist has the least time to settle in his role as an unconventional hero.

Jones, who boarded the Marvel boat right after his stint in HBO's "Game of Thrones" is a bit more cautious of accidentally letting out spoilers especially when his character is the one who arguably still has a lot of kept secrets. However, he was able to cleverly give fans tidbits about Danny's mindset will be coming into the team that is made up of him Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and Luke Cage (Mike Colton).

"Here's one of Danny's contradictions again," the actor — during a special feature of the show at Entertainment Weekly â€” started to explain how his character is wrapping his head around being a part of a team of highly diverse heroes in a "The Defenders." "On the one hand, he's craving desperately for family, for help, for guidance, for people to learn from, and for a team. He's looking for that deeply. But because of what happens in Iron Fist, he's very untrusting of a lot of people, and he has a very independent spirit, and it's really his way or no way," Jones explained.

That being said, his own story arc will revolve around about coming to terms of having comrades that will have his back if push comes to shove. In the comic books, Iron Fist has a well-known friendly bond with co-Defenders Luke Cage. And Jones reveals that they plan to flesh out that relationship more in the upcoming Netflix original series.

"What we're seeing [in The Defenders] is Danny is definitely becoming more at ease, I'd say, and more comfortable with his environment because he has others around him, because he's not going at it alone anymore," he added You get to see Danny's brighter side coming out, and he's not so tormented by this, but also because he's found his purpose.

"Marvel's The Defenders" will start streaming sometime this summer although no specific release date has been announced. It will see the four grounded heroes of the Marvel TV universe work together if they want to bring down Sigourney Weaver's mysterious antagonist named Alexandra. "Iron Fist," however, which is Danny Rand's origin narrative will drop on March 17.
