Despite only debuting in November, "The Crown" has already become one of the most successful shows this year. The biopic drama series that tells the life of Queen Elizabeth II recently picked up three Golden Globe Awards nominations and three Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations. Given the compelling narrative of season 1, many are highly anticipating the second season that will feature the next chapter of the queen's reign. However, based on the latest reports, viewers could see major changes after season 2 of "The Crown."

In an interview with Vulture, Claire Foy, the actress who portrays the young Queen Elizabeth II, said that she will be replaced after the show's sophomore season. It is assumed that the recasting will be because later seasons of "The Crown" will feature a much older Queen Elizabeth II.

"Well, after two seasons, that's it. I'm gone. They're getting rid of all of us," she said, adding, "I don't know how they're planning on doing it, but they're such an incredible bunch of directors and producers that it's gonna be different and exciting. It'll be original. I can't wait to see where it goes. I'm so honored to have been involved at this stage. I couldn't be happier really."

Despite the expected changes in the drama series, Foy still has a lot to be excited about. She recently received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations for her performance in "The Crown."

"The show only just came out in November, so to me it feels like a complete whirlwind... I've been so overwhelmed by how many people have watched it and the positive response we've had. To get this as well... it's amazing," the actress said.

Foy also revealed that they are already filming the second season and that it will pick up almost immediately after the events of the first installment. It was hinted that the upcoming season will feature the short tenure of Anthony Eden as prime minister. Showrunner Peter Morgan also previously said that they will deal with the Suez Crisis in season 2.

"The Crown" season 2 is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2017.
