Netflix's latest royal drama "The Crown" is adding several key players for its second season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, joining the cast of "The Crown" are Michael C. Hall ("Dexter) and Jodi Balfour ("Quarry"). The two actors will be taking on the roles of President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jackie Kennedy, respectively.

For Hall, this marks his return to television as a series regular after his longtime role as a serial killer with a moral code in Showtime's TV series, "Dexter."

"The Crown" season 2 is currently in production and will open in the 1960s — around the time the Queen's Armed Forces fought an illegal war in Egypt. It concludes with the downfall of her third prime minister, Harold Macmillan, because of a scandal.

Aside from Hall and Balfour, it was also previously reported that Matthew Goode ("Downton Abbey") will be joining "The Crown" as Antony Armstrong-Jones. Also known as Lord Snowdon, the society photographer was married to Princess Margaret (Vanessa Kirby) from 1960 until 1978. The couple had two children together and divorced after 18 years of marriage. Lord Snowdon passed away last January at 86 years old.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the plan for "The Crown" as a TV series is to follow the story of her Royal Highness through the years until the present day.

"The idea is to do this over six decades, in six seasons presumably, and make the whole show over eight to 10 years," Netflix chief Ted Sarandos said on a panel last November.

As the series goes forward, Netflix, along with Sony Pictures Television, will also find new actors to play the main characters at different stages of their lives.

Since the release of its first season, "The Crown" has enjoyed a big audience and critical acclaim. It recently scored two Golden Globes this year — one for best drama and one for lead actress Claire Foy for portraying the Queen in the series.

"The Crown" season 2 has no official premiere date yet.
