'The Blacklist' season 4 air date, spoilers: New season 4 photos revealed; Red on the hunt for Liz
"The Blacklist" season 4 will be premiering in a little over a week, and if the clip shared by James Spader in a recent TV guesting is any indication, it looks like the season will be intense right from the get-go.
Spader was recently on the "Tonight Show" where he gave fans and viewers of the series a sneak peek of "Esteban #79," the first episode of season 4. There, the 56-year-old actor who plays Raymond "Red" Reddington on the series is shown meeting a bunch of bad-looking guys in a restaurant.
The guys in the clip were calling Red using various monikers like "Man in the Hat," "Spy Who Stayed Out in the Cold," and "Concierge of Crime." However, the most striking scene of all was when Red killed a man at pointblank range, with him saying, "That sample" afterwards.
Zap2It likewise shared some official set photos of "The Blacklist" season 4. According to the publication, the Blacklister shot by Red is Esteban (Paul Calderon), and it looks like they are among those tasked by Red to search for Liz (Megan Boone) in Cuba.
One picture shows Red and Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert) talking. Whatever their conversation is about remains to be seen, but some surmise it might be about the latter's betrayal of Red. After, she helped Liz escape to Cuba, which resulted in her getting abducted by Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen).
Fans can expect "The Blacklist" season 4 to delve more into Liz's past and what happened on the night of the fire that claimed the lives of her parents, or so she though.
"We are really delving into Liz's past and exposing a lot of things that have been withheld throughout the series," the actress told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview.
Showrunner Jon Bokenkamp likewise teased that there will be more of Liz in the upcoming season, seeing as she shares half of the lead star status for the series.
"The Blacklist" season 4 will return on Sept. 22, 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
