Nick Viall, a two-time "The Bachelorette" runner-up and a current cast member in "Bachelor in Paradise" season 3, is trying his luck in the "Bachelor" franchise for the fourth time.

On Tuesday, ABC announced that Viall will be taking another shot at love as the new Bachelor in "The Bachelor" season 21, which is set to premiere next year.

ABC made the announcement on Tuesday, Aug. 30, during "After Paradise," the aftershow for "Bachelor in Paradise," the summer spinoff series of "The Bachelor."

Viall's first appearance in the Bachelor Nation was in Andi Dorfman's season of "The Bachelorette," where he made it into the final two but lost out to Josh Murray. He then appeared in "The Bachelorette" season 11, where he vied for Kaitlyn Bristowe's hand but again walked away the runner-up.

This year, Viall showed up in "Bachelor in Paradise" season 3, where he appeared to have been dating Jen Saviano. However, things between the two seem to have fizzled out, as evidenced by the announcement that he will be headlining "The Bachelor" season 21.

"I'm definitely ready for it — I'm really excited," Viall told Michelle Collins and Sean Lowe on "After Paradise." "I couldn't be more excited about the possibility of it working out," he added.

Avid Bachelor Nation fans know that Viall is notorious for dishing about getting intimate with Dorfman during their private fantasy suite date in "The Bachelorette" season 10. Dorfman later wrote about the shaming she received following Viall's revelation in her book "It's Not Okay: Turning Heartbreak into Happily Never After" (2016).

But Dorfman and Viall seem to currently be in good terms. On Wednesday, Aug. 31, the former Bachelorette released a statement to Us Weekly, in which she wrote: "I'm happy for Nick. It's been a long road for him, but he has always been genuine about wanting to find love. So I'm happy to see him get another shot at it, and I wish him all the best."

Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight reports that Viall's casting as the 21st Bachelor was a last minute thing.

"It all happened really quick," an insider told the outlet. According to the outlet's informant, the network called and made Viall an offer just a couple of days before the announcement was made.

"Luke [Pell] was all set to be the Bachelor," the source said. "He had signed a contract and was getting ready to leave."

"The Bachelor" season 21 is scheduled to air in 2017.
