"Switched at Birth" season 5 is proving to end things with a bang as the Kennish and Vasquez families face a host of challenges, regrets and new beginnings.

The trailer for the final season of the family drama gave an overview of what will happen. One of the most shocking revelations is Regina (Constance Marie) having a younger boyfriend.

Regina seems to know that her age could be an issue, but it certainly is not to her new lover, who assured her in the "Switched at Birth" season 5 finale that her age does not matter to him.

Regina was absent for the majority of the previous season of the show. However, it looks like she is getting more screen time and a juicier plot in the new season.

The show has shied away from delving into the love life of Regina in the previous seasons except for the first season, where her arc was mostly about her relationships.

Things are about to change in "Switched at Birth" season 5 when she embroils herself in a complicated love story with a much younger man. The trailer shows that the two even get intimate.

Meanwhile, the "Switched at Birth" season 5 preview also suggested that Toby (Lucas Grabeel) and Lily (Rachel Shenton) take a big step in their lives by deciding to tie the knot, which the family is very happy about.

The trailer did not shed light on the call that Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne (Katie Leclerc) when they were in China. However, the former is already regretting going home and the latter is about to as well.

As announced before, "Switched at Birth" season 5 will feature a storyline about campus racism. The show's take will see Daphne's boyfriend Mingo (Adam Hagenbuch) in hot water after dressing up as rapper Lil Wayne at a party.

It was something that the African-American students won't be all too happy about. It instantly goes viral and since Mingo went with Daphne, they easily become viral in social media as people began to hate them.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017 at 8 p.m. EDT on
