Surface Mini Release Date Expected Just in Time for 2014 Holidays
Microsoft's Surface Mini has been rumored for a holiday release, but no official announcement has been made as of yet. After the success of the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, which released on June 20, 2014, reports say that Microsoft will be releasing its mini version just in time for the holidays.
If Microsoft does go forward with the release, it is not guaranteed success, as we can recall the company having to write off $900 million worth of loss from the Surface RT back in 2012.
Fans have been waiting for an official announcement regarding the release of the Surface Mini, but they have been left in the dark until now.
It has been claimed though, that Microsoft stopped the mass production of the Microsoft Mini after having produced around 20,000 units, perhaps thinking that it would face the same dilemma that Microsoft Surface RT encountered in 2012.
Also, reports have claimed that some at Microsoft are worried in case people see no reason to buy the Surface Mini over the iPad mini and other mini Android tablets. However, it seems they will be pushing forward with an initial limited release, and recent reports hinted that the company has gone back to production for the very timely holiday release.
One of Microsoft Surface's strongest points is that it focuses on productivity. All Surface gadgets come with keyboard accessories that have received excellent reviews from users. The latest Surface Pro 3 comes with free OneDrive cloud storage plus a free licensed copy of the Office Home & 2013.
