'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' plot news, rumors: Yoda to appear in next 'Star Wars' film?
Frank Oz may have just hinted that Yoda will be coming back for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
Oz, who served as the actor and puppeteer of the Jedi Master, revealed in an interview with Variety that he has been asked to keep mum about his reprisal of the role.
He said: "I feel like I'm a prisoner at war here, and I can only give you my name, rank and serial number. To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I've been asked not to talk about it. I love Yoda. I would be happy to talk to you about it at the time they let me."
Fans have interpreted the gag order as confirmation that Yoda will be coming back to join the other Jedi in the upcoming film since there would have been no need to ask Oz to keep quiet if there was no secret in the first place.
The rumors of Yoda's return first emerged early last year, when Oz was reportedly spotted at the Pinewood Studios, where "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" was being filmed. He last played the character when he voiced him in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Yoda died at the beginning of "Return of the Jedi." However, this does not mean he cannot appear in the upcoming film, as he was also seen post-death as a Force Ghost. As such, he does not need to be resurrected to turn up in the upcoming "Star Wars" as he can once again appear as a phantom.
It is also possible for Oz to come back, but as a new character in the upcoming film. Another possibility is he is serving as a consultant for the film. Regardless of what his role may be, his involvement in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" has gotten a lot of people excited.
