'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 release date and news: New clip released; Katee Sackhoff to return as Bo-Katan
As the holidays draw nearer, "Star Wars" fans are getting more amped up for new "Star Wars" material being released by Disney. The third season of "Star Wars Rebels" premieres this September and a new clip of Ezra showcasing his powers have been released. What's more, a character from the "Clone Wars" series is also set to return.
The premiere episode is titled "Steps Into Shadow," and the sneak peek shows Ezra and his growing powers with the Force. In the clip, he takes control of an Imperial walker pilot and forces him to kill his own teammates. This season is making a rather dark turn for Ezra.
In the previous season, Ezra was introduced into the ways of the Dark Side by an aging Darth Maul, and the season two finale had him tapping into the Dark Side when he used it to open a Sith Holocron. It looks like this upcoming season will have Ezra torn between the two sides of the Force: Will he take the quick and easy path of the Sith or the hard and noble path of the Jedi?
In other news, "Battlestar Galactica" actress Katee Sackhoff has confirmed that she will be returning this season of "Rebels" to voice Mandalorian warrior Bo-Katan Kryze. Bo-Katan was an original character from "Clone Wars," and she once served under Pre Vizsla in the group known as the Death Watch. She has also once teamed up with Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Though her allegiance isn't clear this upcoming season, fans are still happy to see a familiar face returning to the "Star Wars" universe. There is a chance that the show may even have an appearance from the much older Saw Guerrera played by Forrest Whitaker in "Rogue One."
"Star Wars Rebels" season 3 airs on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 8:30 p.m. on Disney XD.
