'Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens' Cast Spoilers: Kylo Ren As One Of Protagonists' Name Sparks Rumors
Spoilers, speculations and news on "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" are building up less than a year before the much anticipated sequel of the space saga hits the big screen. While some of the reports have been confirmed, many are still unofficial.
The revelation that one of the protagonists is Kylo Ren has intensified fans' excitement. The name of the villain, however, is rather controversial and does not "sit well" with some fans as it doesn't have a "Darth" with it.
If you are a Star Wars fan, you know that all villains, or "Sith Lord" names, are always preceded by "Darth," such as Darth Vader, Darth Sidious and Darth Maul.
The trailer shows a villain walking on a snowy night. When he stops, he ignites his lightsaber's cross guard. It could be that Kylo Ren is not a formal Sith Lord, thus the lack of "Darth" in his name.
But what about the lightsaber he carries? Some speculate that it may be weaker, which equates to weak craftsmanship by an amateur Jedi. Others are guessing that Kylo Ren may actually be a follower of the dark Jedi, and therefore the lack of "Darth" in his name is logical.
Although it is possible that Kylo is not what he seems to be, it is also possible that he is being used as a marketing ploy and that the name is actually not Kylo, and is simply being hidden from the public.
It looks like the production is trying to catch attention and stir controversy as a marketing ploy, but it could also be that we are simply overanalyzing things, and that it is possible for a villain in Star Wars not to have "Darth" in his name.
Let's all just wait and find out!
