Star Wars Episode 7 Title Revealed to Be 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'
"Star Wars" is one of those movie franchises that shows no sign of letting up or slowing down even as it is about to face one more generation of moviegoers. Now that the seventh episode in the popular franchise has finished production, Disney has announced the title of the newest movie: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Although there's nothing questionable or objectionable about the title as it is, there have been some rather heavy negative reactions.
It's most likely because the title sounds too common, given the way that the "Star Wars" movies have been tickling the public's imagination over the years.
Related to this, there's news that a fan produced film bearing the exact same title (after the colon, that is) had already been in existence since eight years ago.
The fan, Dan Lalonde, a Canadian, produced his own version of "Star Wars" and gave it the sub-identity of "The Force Awakens", according to Indiewire.
Moreover, when compared to a title like "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" (episode VI), "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" just doesn't have the same kind of interesting ring.
The J.J. Abram helmed film, which will premiere on December 18, 2015, is still highly anticipated and is a sure fire blockbuster smash hit. Bad title or not, it looks like the force is still with the franchise, after all.
