'Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR' DLC release date news 2016: 'Rogue One' ship U-wing to be playable in DLC?
The release of Gareth Edwards' "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will give fans a look at a new ship called the "U-Wing," and it seems like players will also get to use it when the "Rogue One X-Wing VR" downloadable content (DLC) comes out for "Star Wars Battlefront."
According to The Star Wars Show on Youtube, some key art for the DLC was released and it has a picture of a U-Wing flying alongside the other ships to a planet which looks like Scarif.
Fans will also be happy to know that the "X-Wing VR" mission is free for any player who owns a copy of "Star Wars Battlefront." Of course, they can only play the mission if they own the VR headset which is currently priced at $399.
Aside from the VR (virtual reality) mission, the holidays will also see the release of "Star Wars Battlefront: Scarif" and it will take players to the new tropical world which will make its debut in "Rogue One." Since the DLC has "Rogue One" in the title, it's only natural that the missions in the game will be "Rogue One"-related.
"Scarif" will put players in the traditional "Battlefront" setting where they will have to duke it out with the opposing forces on the ground. The expansion gives players two new heroes for each side: Jyn Erso is said to be the playable hero for the Rebel Alliance, and Director Krennic will be playable hero for the Empire.
The release of the "Rogue One" expansion close to the "Rogue One" movie release is very much like EA's tactic when "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hit theaters back in 2015. The expansion "Star Wars Battlefront: Jakku" put players in the new planet that was introduced in the movie.
No specific release date has been announced, but fans should expect the "Rogue One X-Wing VR Mission" DLC to be available in December.
