'Star Wars Battlefront' Release Date News: Xbox One Users First to Play Game
Electronic Arts is due to unveil "Star Wars: Battlefront" on Friday, April 17, in an event that is scheduled to take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
"Star Wars: Battlefront" is developed by DICE and is scheduled for release sometime during this year's holiday season. It will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Earlier this week, a Twitter account associated with Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg was used to send out a message that the game would first come to Xbox One via EA Access. Since EA Access is not available for the PS4, it means the game will first be made available to Xbox One users.
As for the exact details about the game's arrival on EA Access, there was a bit of confusion as Greenberg did not provide any more information.
GameSpot said "Star Wars: Battletfront" could be made available a few days earlier than the actual release date on EA Access. Thus, members who have subscribed to it will be able to play the game earlier than other gamers.
When EA Access was launched by Electronic Arts, the company wanted the service to be available to gamers using the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. But Sony eventually pulled out of the program.
Currently, members who subscribe to EA Access pay around $5 per month in the U.S. Members have access to a number of games and get some free titles. Often releases from Electronic Arts such as FIFA 15 are provided a week earlier to members. They can save their settings for later use when the game is released in its entirety.
DICE started work on "Star Wars: Battlefront" in 2013. Much of the game is still under wraps. At this week's event, the trailer for the game will be shown along with the build employed in creating it.
