'Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star' DLC release date news 2016: Expansion out in September? Skirmish mode now available, 'Rogue One' DLC under development, too?
During the annual "Star Wars" celebration, it was announced that there were plans to release downloadable content (DLC) packs for "Star Wars Battlefront." Among these would be a Skirmish offline mode and the "Death Star" and "Rogue One" expansions, and fans are wondering when the new DLCs would be out.
Well, true to their promise, the "Skirmish" mode was released on July 21. This is an offline game mode version of "Walker Assault" and "Fighter Squadron," where players would take on a team of bots and could play split-screen with a friend.
Meanwhile, there is still no official release date for the next major DLC pack, which is based on the "Death Star." What is known thus far is it would feature two more characters that are playable, new weapons, and more Star Cards. There are talks that the new characters would be Chewbacca and Bossk, the reptilian bounty hunter.
No other details have been revealed for the "Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star" DLC, as EA and the development team at DICE would rather keep mum. However, they did say the expansion would be released sometime in September 2016. That still-undisclosed launch date would supposedly be followed by another expansion launch around December 2016.
According to VG24/7, the "Death Star" expansion comes packaged with the "Star Wars Battlefront" season pass that cost $49.99 or £39.99 and available from Amazon US, Amazon UK, Origin PC, PlayStation, or Xbox Live stores. Apparently, getting the season pass affords players the chance to get to the "Outer Rim" and "Bespin" expansions right from the get-go, as well as to other new releases.
In related news, there are speculations that the next major expansion following "Death Star" would be based on the movie that's showing this December, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." However, not much is being given away about this expansion, perhaps to avoid pre-empting the movie.
In the meantime, keep coming back for more news and updates about the "Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star" DLC.
