Sony Experia Z3v Review: Specs and Features Details
Although most people recognize Sony as a company that manufactures game consoles and TVs as well as the legendary Walkman, the company's latest addition to its line of smartphones is the Xperia Z3v.
The model is being released with a price of only $199.99 from Verizon. The phone runs the Android 4.4.4 KitKat with software build 23.0.E.0.376.
Xperia Z3v has a display of 5.2" Full HD (1920x1080 pixels), weighs 6.02 ounces and has dimensions of 5.85 x 2.89 x 0.35 in (148.5mm x 73.4mm x 8.9mm).
The phone model closely resembles Sony's Xperia Z2 more than the Xperia Z3, which is slimmer and thinner if one looks at the overall design (Z3v is 0.35 inches thick; Z2 is 0.32 inches while Z3 is only 0.30 inches thick). This is not to say that the Z3v is too chunky; it's just that the difference is noticeable enough.
The phone is powered by a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor and its battery capacity is 3200 mAh with talk time of up to 21 hours.
The rear camera is 20.7 MP with auto focus while the front-facing camera has 2.2 MP capability.
Lastly, the phone is waterproof and dust tight (IP65 and IP68). This feature is what sets Sony phones apart. Although other brands have phones that are waterproof, the Xperia Z3v can be plunged 5 meters under water for more than 30 minutes without getting damaged—or so Sony claims.
For its price, Sony's Experia Z3v is competitive enough to give other brands a good fight in the smartphone business.
