'Sense8' season 2 spoilers, plot news: Fate of series on shaky ground? New cast member a nuisance?
Everything is all set for "Sense8" season 2 from the big bads to the arcs, and the cast members are likewise neck-deep with filming in different parts of the globe. However, recent rumors are casting doubt on the release of a second installment.
Just recently, it was reported that the Netflix series tapped Indian actor Sikander Kher to play the role of a villain that would rival Whispers' (Terence Mann) notoriety. According to the report, Kher's character would be going after Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) and Rajan (Purab Kohli) since the two are his strongest threats to winning Kala's (Tina Desai) affection.
However, the rumor mill has spawned talks that Kher is demanding more from Netflix, and that apparently, his primo uomo attitude has caused production issues and crises. There is no confirmation as to the controversies being thrown Kher's way, and the network has opted to keep mum about the matter.
According to Game n Guide, the issue with Kher could cause production for "Sense8" season 2 to wrap up prematurely, thereby quashing hopes for the series' second season even if it has been renewed since last year. The creators of the series have announced a holiday special airing this December, but to date, they haven't verified a release date for the second season.
Meanwhile, the cast of "Sense8" recently celebrated the Sensates' fictional birthdays, according to the International Business Times. In the series, the eight Sensates, who are physically linked to one another, were all born on Aug. 8. The cast members took time out to make a special video greeting where they wished fans a happy birthday.
Incidentally, August 8 likewise marks the anniversary of the day Netflix gave the show the go-signal to continue through to season 2.
Fans are hoping that Netflix would announce a release date as soon as production for the second season is completed.
At any rate, "Sense8" season 2 is expected to air sometime in January 2017.
