New details about Frankie Vargas' (Ricardo Chavira) assassination will be revealed on the upcoming episode of ABC's "Scandal" season 6.

Titled "The Belt," next week's episode will see Cyrus (Jeff Perry) continue to face his biggest challenge yet. According to the official synopsis, Cyrus is determined to prove that he had nothing to do with Frankie's death. Although he is still behind bars, Frankie's former running mate will try to reach out to his connections to let everyone know that he is innocent and that he shouldn't be in jail. He previously agreed to hire Elizabeth (Portia de Rossi) as his chief of staff so that she could help him prove that he didn't shoot Frankie.

Elsewhere in the episode, new information about the assassination might drastically change the direction of the story. Olivia (Kerry Washington) and the Gladiators are the first ones to know the truth, and it will be up to them to decide whether they should keep the shocking revelation a secret or not.

Thursday's hour saw Tom (Brian Letscher) confessing that he's the one who killed Frankie but only because Cyrus ordered him to do so. With Cyrus being convicted of murder, his previous agreement with President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) is now off the table, giving Mellie (Bellamy Young) another shot at the White House.

In an interview with TV Line, Goldwyn said there's more to the story that viewers have yet to see. "We'll find out in episodes to come what's actually going down," the actor teased. "To me, the evidence is not persuasive — there's something else going on. But for Fitz, the pressure of not leaving a leadership vacuum is really serious. He's got to make a decision, even if there's no easy, correct answer. He can't waffle back and forth, because the country could end up in even more serious trouble," he went on to say.

The sixth season of "Scandal" airs every Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
