San Antonio Spurs trade rumors: Spurs eyeing sharp-shooter Allen for a comeback?
In hopes of making a comeback, it appears Ray Allen is seriously considering the San Antonio Spurs as the team to play in.
Allen last played back in the 2013-14 season where he suited for the Miami Heat and retired after failing to secure his third NBA championship.
Now at 41 years old, reports are surfacing that Allen is attempting to make a comeback.
One report claims that Allen mentioned the Spurs as one of the few teams he would consider if he was to go back in the NBA.
If it happens, then the Spurs are going to add another deadly shooter from beyond the arc that should help them become contenders in the Western Conference.
This is something that the team is likely to consider given the fact that some of their rivals in the Western Conference have improved dramatically, with Kevin Durant moving to the Golden State Warriors.
Having Allen in the team will add another shooter that will stretch the defenses and help the Spurs in executing their plays.
Furthermore, adding Allen is going to be definitely cost efficient as he will only need a veteran minimum to play, as long as the team gives him a realistic chance to win his third title.
Other rumor outlets also mentioned the possible return of Allen in the league, with the Spurs as a likely destination.
In his 19 years in the league, Allen averaged 18.9 points per game and shot 45% from the field. Even more impressive is that Allen is a 40% career shooter from beyond the arc that is always important in the NBA.
CBS Sports mentioned that Allen is also considering the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics as other teams if he does not end with the Spurs.
If there is any truth to the rumors, then this should be a win-win scenario for both Allen and the Spurs, and things should be progressing soon.
