Samsung Notebook 9 release date, specs news: Ultra-light laptops upgraded with Intel Kaby Lake processors
Samsung has upgraded its Notebook 9 laptops with Intel's seventh-generation Kaby Lake processors. The ultra-light laptops can be used even while on the go and with more powerful chips, users can accomplish even the most complex tasks.
Samsung's Notebook 9 lineup comes in two variants: one with a 13.3-inch display and the other with a 15-inch screen. Both have a resolution of 1,920 x 1080 pixels. The laptops have ultra-slim bezels and feature an edge-to-edge display. To facilitate presentations or sharing of data, the display can also recline up to 180 degrees.
The Notebook 9 laptops are sleek and thin. The 13.3-inch model is only 1.8 pounds, making it one of the lightest notebooks in the market. The 15-inch variant is also quite light at 2.17 pounds. Furthermore, their single shell chassis uses the Micro Arc Oxidation (MAO) Rigidity technology that enables the laptops to be durable and shock resistant.
To provide impressive performance, the laptops can feature either the Intel Core i5 or i7 processors. It can also support up to 8 GB of random access memory (RAM) and 256 GB of built-in memory.
Samsung also offers users more security via a fingerprint sensor on the keyboard. The laptops are equipped with the Windows 10 Home operating system so they can support Windows Hello. There is no need for passwords as the devices can be unlocked with just a single touch.
The Notebook 9 laptops are also pretty easy to carry while traveling or working on the go. Its 30 kWh battery ensures that productivity is not interrupted as the laptops provide up to seven hours of use on a single charge. Whenever the long-lasting battery does run out, the fast charge capability allows users to fully charge the laptops in just 80 minutes. It can also provide 2.1 hours of use after just 20 minutes of charging.
Another notable feature is the USB Type-C port that allows the laptops to be charged using a cellphone charger and enables quick data transfers. The Notebook 9 devices also comes with peer-to-peer sharing software that can be used to share files, messages and photos.
Pricing and availability have yet to be announced. More information is likely to be revealed by Samsung during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from Jan. 5 to 8, 2017.
