Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date, specs rumors: Better, safer, more innovative Note 8 coming in April?

With the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 completely out of commission, fans are so much more eager to get their hands on the Korean tech company's next big offering: the Galaxy Note 8. And even though latest updates have revealed that the anticipated phablet will not be announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress happening this month, other sources have confirmed that the device will definitely be out this year.

The Mobile World Congress will kick off in Barcelona on Monday, Feb. 27, and it will continue on until Thursday, March 2. Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will not be unveiled during this event, as what was previously rumored. The Note 8 will instead be announced at a later event happening in March, and it will reportedly go on sale in April.

PC Advisor has also stumbled on the latest leaks suggesting that the Note 8 may not support an S Pen Stylus. It will, instead, feature incredibly slim bezels all around. The display size may be boosted up to 5.7 inches for the standard model and 6.2 inches for the Plus variant. The front display will also be bigger with the loss of the home button, while the rear side will expectedly feature a fingerprint scanner.

Following the debacle of the Note 7, a source reported that Samsung will also be sourcing its battery cells from a new supplier, which could either be its fellow Korea-based company, OEM LG, or its subsidiary, LG Chem. This could almost ensure that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will not be suffering from the exploding batteries of its predecessor since LG has not yet produced a malfunctioning smartphone battery to date.

Furthermore, Samsung's mobile chief Dong-jin Koh had directly assured the public that the Note 8 will more than make up for the mistakes of the ill-fated Note 7.

"I will bring back a better, safer, and very innovative Note 8," Koh said in an interview with CNET.

As to whether or not the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will live up to this promise can only be proven when the phablet finally goes on sale in April.
