Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date, specs update: Galaxy Note 8 with curved display coming in 2017?

Right on the heels of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release, rumors about the Galaxy Note 8, the next device in Samsung's Android phablet smartphone line, are already hitting the internet.

Galaxy Note 7 Info reports that the next Galaxy Note will have many of the same features as the current model, including a dual-sided curved display, biometric authentication and a super AMOLED screen. The new Galaxy Note phablet will also reportedly come loaded with the best camera lenses available and enhanced biometric features apart from the iris scanner of the Galaxy Note 7.

The website also suggests that the Galaxy Note 8 will be powered by the Snapdragon Qualcomm octa-core 3.2 GHz processor and will offer at least 64 GB of internal memory space. The new Galaxy Note phablet will also reportedly have at least 6 GB RAM. This means it will perform much faster than the Galaxy Note 7.

Meanwhile, Know Your Mobile suggests that a recent statement from Koh Dong-jin, the president of Samsung's mobile business, indicates that the tech giant will no longer release its future Galaxy devices with flat displays. Instead, all of Samsung Mobile's new flagship smartphones could come with curved edge displays.

"Samsung has considered that it would make the edge display as the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup if the company can provide consumers differentiated user experience through software and user-friendly functions [for the curved screen]," he said during a media interview in New York City last August.

This would continue the trend of releasing curved edge models without the EDGE name that began with the Galaxy Note 7. Apart from the lack of the EDGE branding, the Galaxy Note 7 also came sans a flat-screened counterpart, a first in Samsung history.

Know Your Mobile suggests that because of this possible new curved-screen-only rule, Samsung aficionados should probably expect only one type of Galaxy Note 8 in the coming year.

Samsung has yet to release any official announcements about its next Galaxy Note.
