Samsung Galaxy Note 8 news: to come in the latter half of 2017 despite rumors of it already being in the works
Samsung is pushing forward with its Note smartphone line with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tipped to make its debut next year. This is despite the horrendous troubles that the Galaxy Note 7 brought this year. That being said, rumors continue to fly around online specifically as to when exactly the upcoming high-end device will make its debut.
There are a couple of big events peppered throughout 2017 that the South Korean tech company may utilize for its tipped launching of the device. There is the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) happening in Barcelona, Spain where Samsung has been an occasion stalwart for quite a while now. However, this may not be the case as the history of the smartphone line indicates that it may actually take a couple more months toward the latter half of the year for the Galaxy Note 8 launch.
While the manufacturing giant has been known to drop some of its new devices during the annual MWC, more recently with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, its Note counterparts — at least its main iterations — tend to drop much later in the year. And the Galaxy Note 7 is no exception as it was announced at a special Samsung-hosted gathering in New York City just in August of this year. Given this, the Seoul-based group might just actually just go out of its way and hold special events of their own as a way to establish its own regular dates. This is despite recent rumors that the aforementioned high-end phone is already in the works.
Should this be the case, the owners of the defective Galaxy Note 7 units will have to wait a bit longer to exchange their phones with the latest iteration of the smartphone. Then again, they also have the option to choose to trade their unit for a Galaxy S8 should it come earlier.
Moreover, the timeline also puts Galaxy Note 8 almost head to head with Apple's iPhone 8 should the Cupertino-based company release its 10th-anniversary phone sometime in September.
Specs-wise, the Galaxy Note 8 is said to be sporting an autofocus (AF) selfie camera alongside a 5.7-inch Quad High-Definition (QHD) or 4K super active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display, which makes for a better device in terms of virtual reality (VR) games support.
